The visual image of watching unbuckled passengers fly around in car in an automobile collision has impressed me enough to wear a seat belt whenever and wherever I am sitting in a vehicle.
The image of Michael hitting is girlfriend & giving her brain damage was very dramatic. Is there someone you know that does not wear a seat belt? Could you see this happening to them?
What modes of transportation do we ride in that do not have seat belts?
How would riders be effected if all vehicles had seat belts?

Street Smarts
Today we watched a video about the relationship between student learning to drive and parent helping the student with the practice driving.
When the daughter & mom were approaching the toll booth, which individual was creating the tension between them?
When the father & son were backing out of the driveway, which individual was creating the tension between?
Of which parent do you find more tension when you are practice driving? Why?
How is your driving effected when you are tense?
Could you envision situaions with friends when you are tense while driving the car?

Room To Live II
Early in the course we watched a video on using our seatbelts. This is a topic/subject that has had a tremendous effect on me personally!! In fact, my personal experience about using the seatbelt as a passenger has saved my life!!
The presenter in the video had a lot of stories about using the seatbelt when driving. In one of his comments he told his wife to tell her friend to "Get the Hell out of the Car" if she is not going to wear her seat belt.
How would your family or friends react to this comment if they were not wearing a seat belt?
How have your experiences as a passneger & a student driver effected your using a seatbelt?
Have you ever been involved in a collision? What type of collision was it? (Head on, Side swipe, rear end, etc) Were there any injuries? Were you injured?
Which one of the seatbelt stories could you relate to? Why was the story/stories so powerful?
Seatbelt use in the United States is at 82%. However, during the school year, when I leave for lunch, I notice a lot of students are not wearing a seatbelt when they are leaving the parking lot.
What can we do so that we get 100% of the Fremd High school students wearing a seatbelts?
